The Edmonton Oilers announced today that goaltender Laurent Brossoit and David Musil have both been assigned to the Oklahoma City Barons. This is good news for the Barons as they amp up their lineup in anticipation of back-to-back preseason games in Texas.
Defensively speaking David Musil looks very similar to the player we watched in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs last season. Strong, poised, and increasingly head strong – Musil has put together a pretty good calendar year, and the Oilers thought so as well. I’m not sure I’d slot him above Gernat or Oesterle, but he certainly is improving quickly. Good things.
Laurent Brossoit is shaping up to be a nice goaltender. Bunz has the feet. Rimmer and Tuohimaa the gloves and dynamics. Then there’s Brossoit who is probably a combination of the others. The competition between those three should be fierce, but you get the overwhelming feeling that the placement decision has already been made.
Oklahoma City Barons camp now has 31 listed as active on their roster.
More cuts to come, keep your eyes peeled.
