After dazzling our farm senses with a six point game (three goals and three assists) on March 30th, centerman Anton Lander was promptly recalled to the Edmonton Oilers. Since his departure the Barons have put together a streak of importance only losing once in the last five games. At the same time, in Oil Country, Lander was “on the roster” for six games, the Oilers won two, and Lander played 00:00 minutes of ice time. Was it worth the callup? It was for Lander (hint: paycheck).
Yet he’ll be returned just in time for the Barons to face Rochester and Hamilton on the road with the Oklahoma City Barons. This is great news because it only makes the current OKC squad all that much better.
Here are your centermen in Oklahoma City
Mark Arcobello, Anton Lander, Chris VandeVelde, C.J. Stretch, Ryan Martindale, Tanner House.
The irony of it all was that C.J. Stretch was signed to a contract YESTERDAY to add a better scoring angle to the center position beyond Arcobello. Whoops! Nonetheless, he’ll stay and that’s good. We might finally get Stretch on a wing.
Also likely is that the Barons peak at the right time and stay healthy along the way.
