The Finnish phenom that knows how to finish, Hartikainen was and is my favorite Oiler. He exudes confidence and gamesmanship that beckons your attention. Whether he’s banking his own pass of the dasher boards or he’s lighting up goaltenders in the shootout, Teemu Hartikainen is the real deal.
After a long season on the farm where he scored 42 points in 66 games, but also proved his durability, strength, and worth, Hartinanen earned 12 NHL games towards the end of the season and had 3 goals and two assists. He showed Edmonton what all the fuss in Oklahoma City was about.
As the new season approaches we watch young Teemu with a critical eye and an open mind. He’s NHL-ready, but at what cost? Does the organization push him into the big leagues, or let him simmer a bit in the minor league stew as he continues to prove valuable? Either way I’m content.
